The Intercessory Prayer Group
Earthly Angels...God's Intercessors
Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. -Ephesians 6:18
Just what does it take to be an earthly angel to someone else? Your desire to lift that person to the Lord in prayer could be your first action taken in that direction.
Just take a moment to write a note of loving concern to say you care for the one you have lifted up in prayer. That written message can carry our Lord's love and share His promises of hope, comfort and peace.
We share with you a card of thanks sent to the Intercessory Prayer Ministry:
Dear Church Prayer Group: I want to tell you how much your prayers and cards have meant to me this past year. I know I would not have been as well as I am without them. Some days I did not feel very well and then along would come a card from you and I would feel so much better. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers as I have been in yours.
We believe that we are called by God to the work of intercession in His Name, for the healing of the brokenness that surrounds us. We believe that our calling to intercession is in obedience to the command of Christ, to show compassion and love for His people, and to continue His healing ministry in His Name.
The Intercessory Prayer Ministry is a group of individuals from our congregation who are committed to pray for the needs of others, helping them bear their burdens in fulfillment of the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). There are presently over 300 Intercessors. Those who choose this ministry are asked to sign up for a 6 month commitment to pray for those on our weekly prayer list for 30 minutes each week, either in our prayer area or at home.
The mission of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry is to bring to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, the concerns of our congregation, our community, our city, and the world by the prayers of individuals committed to this ministry of love.
Each Monday, the prayer list is e-mailed or mailed to each intercessor. Some intercessors volunteer to write weekly notes of encouragement to those we are lifting up in prayer.
There is no greater privilege and responsibility than that of prayer. The supreme object of prayer is God Himself. Our future goal is to encourage all to join us in loving others through lifting to the Lord their needs in Prayers of Intercession and sending them caring notes of encouragement.
Sign up forms are available in the Sunday School Classes, in our weekly newsletter, and at the Information Desk, or just put your name and phone number with your desire to join this ministry and place it in the offering plate or in the church office.
