Living in Communion
We prepare for Holy Communion at both our 8:45 and 11:00 services. The opportunity to partake of Holy Communion is always a blessing but in this season of Lent, it offers a special opportunity to prepare ourselves along this Lenten journey to Easter. It is a time to confess where we have fallen short. It is a time to regain our perspective. It is a time to remember how sacred our lives are and how precious each day is.
Ann Weems, in her Lenten poem, Holy Communion, puts it this way:
Eat. Drink. Remember who I am.
Eat. Drink. Remember who I am so you can remember who you are.
Eat. Drink. Remember who I am so you can remember who you are and tell the others.
Eat. Drink. Remember who I am so you can remember who you are and tell the others so that all God’s people can live in
communion…
in holy communion.
While living in communion with others, remember the many ways we can do this during Lent:. We can
• Confess where we have fallen short of the glory of God.
• Honor and remember loved ones by giving Easter Lilies. This not only allows us to remember and honor loved ones, but also
benefits ministries in this Church. This year, the proceeds from the sale of the Lilies’ will go to the ministry of children with special needs.
• Bring new critters with their tags still on and these critters will
remain with us in worship until they are transported to sick
children at Scottish Rite, Egleston and Hughes Spalding Hospital.
• Sign up to participate in the 2010 One Great Day of Service.
See you in worship this Sunday.
In His Love,
JOHN
