View a short video message from Rev. John on the Disciple Experience.

Disciple Bible Studies ~ This exciting and dynamic approach to Bible study created by the United Methodist Church focuses on the disciple as a learner, believer, follower, proclaimer and servant. The purpose of Disciple may best be expressed in the words of John 8:31- If you make my Word your home, you will be my disciples.

What is Expected of Participants?

* Space is Limited

* Time required ranges from 30 minutes to one hour of study 6 days each week, primarily reading of the Bible plus a small amount from the Study Manual

Disciple classes begin in the Fall and end in Spring. Description of classes offered and cost of workbook(s)::

Disciple I ~ A 34 week study using one theme each week to organize study and reflection. 17 weeks of Old Testament and 17 weeks of New Testament. No prerequisite required. $36

Disciple II ~ A 32 week study concentrating on Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts. Because the readings are less extensive than Disciple I, there is more time for reflection and greater depth in study. Also, there is an added weekly focus on one of the spiritual disciplines. Completion of Disciple I is required to take this class. $36 plus optional materials

Disciple III ~ A 32 week study concentrating on the writings of the Old Testament prophets and on the letters of Paul. Completion of Disciple I is required to take this class. $36

Jesus in the Gospels ~ A 30 week course focusing on the portraits of Jesus in the four Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Daily assignments include Old Testament and New Testament passages and use gospel comparison resources. Completion of Disciple I and another Disciple class is required to take this class. $45

Christian Believer ~ A 30 week study integrating Bible study with study of the basic beliefs of the Christian faith. By yoking doctrine with the Bible, this study develops familiarity with the Bible and what the church believes and teaches. The study enriches worship by helping to understand the language of faith in hymns, creeds, symbols, sermons and scripture. $42
